Why I want to be a tutor is for two reasons, I want to be better teacher and I enjoy it. I take joy in witnessing learning. I like being with students and nurturing the whole student, not just helping them get better grades but helping them become better people. I want to have the opportunity to help students.

Two other students and I received scholarship awards for research regarding Great Native American Teaching Strategies in SUU’s Faculty Student Scholarship Day, 2010. I was glad to take part in learning with these other two students, and valued our experiences together. We have presented our findings at the Undergraduate Research Conference, 2010, the Faculty Student Scholarship Day, 2010, Utah Rural Schools Association (URSA) conference, 2010, Teaching All Conference, 2011, and various classes in our college.
HobbiesI love how Southern Utah University has nurtured me with many educational experiences, in and out of the classroom. I will be receiving an Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science degree, from Southern Utah University. I have learned not only in the classroom but from experiences as a student leader, tutor and volunteer in the Iron County Schools, and Resident Assistant with SUU Housing. These opportunities to learn outside of the classroom have helped me develop patience and leadership.
I am one who desires others to feel safe and respected. Because I respect others, I am confident others will offer their respect to me too. I take delight in helping others to develop, I can recognize potential, and give enough support so people will make the most of themselves.
I do take joy in being with children and facilitating their learning. Witnessing a child learning brings me happiness. I am looking forward to working with children in my future career.
Working with others, I take correction well and improve when asked to. I believe learning is a process and appreciate the moments when I grow from knowledge shared by others. I have a calming presence that helps others to feel comfortable to work around me. I have a good understanding of my emotions and am not quick to judge or anger. I am able to accept and appreciate people for who they are, and recognize their worth and potential.
